Logistikbude launches AI agent for automated pallet note booking

A large stack of handwritten pallet notes lies scattered on a desk. Pink and white forms are strewn about in a chaotic mess – a symbol of analogue processes in logistics that can be replaced by digital solutions from Logistikbude. Monitors and office equipment can be seen in the background.

Logistikbude launches AI agent for automated pallet note booking

  • Automated transfer of information to pallet notes
  • Reduction in processing time and error rate by up to 80 per cent
  • Implementation completed with first partners

No more manual typing – one click is all it takes: Logistikbude GmbH presents a new feature of its software solution, the AI agent, which significantly reduces the manual effort involved in managing load carriers such as pallets and containers. Using artificial intelligence, the AI agent automatically processes handwritten and printed information on scanned pallet notes and transfers it in a structured manner to the digital booking mask.

‘Those responsible for logistics will be familiar with this: at the start of every shift, dozens of pallet notes land on the table, all of which have to be booked. This is time-consuming – and, above all, avoidable – drudgery, which is now almost completely eliminated thanks to the AI agent,’ says Dr Philipp Hüning,  Co-founder and CEO of Logistikbude.
A desk full of handwritten pallet notes. Someone sorts the papers manually in front of a keyboard – a typical example of time-consuming analogue processes in logistics that can be automated using digital solutions from Logistikbude.
Stacks of pallet notes that have to be checked, sorted and booked manually. Time-consuming routine work.

Following an intensive live testing phase, the feature has already been implemented at the first partner companies and is showing immediate positive effects: ‘The key advantage of the AI agent has already become apparent with the first customers: it is self-explanatory and therefore ready for immediate use,’ says Hüning.

From manual input to automated booking

The new feature uses artificial intelligence to automatically process the information on scanned receipts – i.e. exchange partners, receipt date and number, loading equipment and quantities, optionally also truck registration numbers and other references – and generates a booking from this, which only needs to be briefly approved by an employee. The special feature here is that the receipts are read without training – even those that the system has never seen before.

‘This reduces the time required per pallet note from 30–60 seconds to just a few seconds, while also reducing the error rate caused by transcription errors. With dozens of notes per day, this saves several hours of avoidable manual labour each week,’ says Hüning.

The AI agent processes the information from handwritten and printed pallet notes and automatically generates a booking from it.

The solution is fully scalable and can reliably process tens of thousands of documents or more per week. In the next stage of development, bookings will even be created fully automatically – without manual intervention. Co-founder and CPO Patrik Elfert says:

‘With the AI agent, we are bringing artificial intelligence directly into everyday logistics. We are not only reducing manual work steps, but also creating the basis for fully digital and audit-proof processes in load carrier management – thus making a strategic contribution to the digitalisation of the supply chain.’

The pallet note as the ‘lowest common denominator’

Why do companies still rely on paper? Hüning explains: ‘For many companies, paper remains the lowest common denominator: different systems are often not linked to each other, and when external partners are added to the mix, paper is often the only option left for documentation at the loading bay.’

That is why the ‘classic’ pallet note is still widely used in everyday logistics and production.

‘Our vision is to fully automate load carrier processes and thus make them completely paperless. At the same time, we naturally recognise that the reality is currently different. This is precisely where our AI agent comes in,’ adds Hüning.
