Transport sector in focus: Logistikbude manages load carriers for Niedermaier Spedition and Spedition Knecht

  • Logistikbude specifically focuses on small and medium-sized freight forwarders
  • Niedermaier digitizes processes and abolishes receipt slips
  • Knecht automates management of special racks

Dortmund/Landau/Rudersberg, May 21, 2025. Logistikbude GmbH underlines its expertise in the transport sector and works with Niedermaier Spedition GmbH and Spedition Knecht GmbH. Both companies are now using the Dortmund start-up's web-based solution to optimize their load carrier management. While Niedermaier Spedition now processes all exchange processes digitally, Spedition Knecht uses the software to precisely track the whereabouts of its special racks for transporting glass elements and to completely automate load carrier management. With the new collaborations, Logistikbude is strengthening its strategic focus on traditional transport companies.

“We are very pleased to have two established medium-sized freight forwarders as partners. With our software, we help them automate processes and thus improve the complex management of load carriers in a practical and targeted manner,” says Dr. Philipp Hüning, CEO and co-founder of Logistikbude GmbH

The software of the same name from the Dortmund start-up digitizes and automates load carrier management, making it possible to track pallets, containers and racks in real time. The partnerships with Niedermaier and Knecht mark an important step in the strategic focus on the transport sector.

“In both projects, we are working together to create more transparency, reduce costs and ensure more efficient use of resources,” summarizes Hüning.

From paper to digital: transparent processes instead of traditional receipt slips

Niedermaier Spedition GmbH, based in Landau, offers a wide range of logistics solutions — from classic transport and contract logistics to consulting services. In order to make load carrier management processes more transparent, the company relies on the Logistikbude. In the application of the same name, all load carriers and exchange processes are now displayed centrally and digitally. Once a month, the software automatically sends a web link to all 250 exchange partners, which they can use to view the stocks. At the same time, they are reminded to settle the exchange accounts in good time.

Anja Bachmeier, head of loading equipment management at Niedermaier and responsible for implementing the new solution, says: “Thanks to the Logistikbude, there is no need to send receipt slips, so we can use our human resources more effectively and at the same time significantly reduce paper consumption. ”

The shipping company is currently still in the testing phase of the solution. Implementation should be completed by summer.

Automated management of expensive special frames — without personnel costs

Another new partner for the logistics startup is Spedition Knecht GmbH, based in Rudersberg near Stuttgart. It specializes in transporting window and glass elements for the construction industry. Through cooperation with Dortmund load carrier experts, the freight forwarding company wants to curb loss rates and third-party use of its high-quality racks.

Dietmar Wiedmann, managing director of Spedition Knecht, explains: “In the software, we can see for each individual rack where it is and whether it has been returned — this increases transparency immensely. That is exactly what is crucial for us, because the frames are custom-made products, which may have to be reproduced separately and cost up to 1,000 euros per piece. ”

With the help of the Logistikbud app, the freight forwarding company's drivers scan the glass elements when they are picked up and delivered to the construction site — and make their whereabouts digitally traceable in one go.

“Our goal is to completely automate load carrier management so that no one has to manually worry about it anymore. The software automatically sends a warning if the racks are not returned — and in the final step, charges an automated fee if the agreed rental period is exceeded,” says Wiedmann.

In addition, photos can be taken using the app to document the condition of the returned racks and possible damage. “In this way, Logistikbude promotes responsible handling of load carriers,” adds Wiedmann. The freight forwarding company is currently testing the new processes together with one of its customers using a fixed pool of load carriers. In the future, however, the delivery area is to be expanded and the number of units gradually increased so that up to 4,000 racks can be managed with the help of the Logistikbude.

Strategic development in the transport sector

Through successful collaborations — for example with the Nagel-Group, which manages all load carriers at over 130 locations with the help of Logistikbude — the start-up has already established itself in the transport sector. In addition to existing partnerships, the young company is also interested in small and medium-sized freight forwarders.

“Especially in the transport and logistics sector, where load carrier management is particularly demanding due to its core business, there is a need for an efficient, digital solution to relieve employees — and that is exactly what we can offer,” explains Hüning.

In order to meet the needs of freight forwarding customers, the software solution is constantly being adapted and optimized. For example, account statements from exchange partners have recently been uploaded directly to the platform, regardless of the file format. The software automatically processes the files and compares them with your own bookings, eliminating manual effort. Logistikbude is presenting this new feature at this year's Transport Logistic in Munich, among others. From June 2 to 5, 2025, visitors will have the opportunity to test the new function at booth B1.231A.
