delo Dettmer Verpackungen now manages all load carriers digitally with Logistikbude

delo Dettmer Verpackungen GmbH, based in Lohne, is a leading manufacturer of film packaging for the food and hygiene industries. Whether it's crisp packets, crisps bags or film for frozen goods, the company's products end up in consumers' shopping trolleys every day. Less visible, but just as important, is the logistics behind it all. Because without pallets, nothing works.

Initial situation: Excel, pallet notes and full folders

For years, pallet movements at delo were managed in the traditional way: pallet notes were filled out by hand, then transferred to Excel and filed away. ‘Until 2023, we were still classic Excel candidates. Writing pallet notes by hand, typing in movements, filing them away – it worked, but it was extremely time-consuming,’ recalls Felix Schlarmann, who is responsible for load carrier management.

A first step towards digitalisation was taken with software from another provider – but the solution fell short of expectations: too little further development, too complicated to use.

The solution: collaboration with the logistics company

Together with Logistikbude, delo Dettmer Verpackungen has consistently digitised the management of load carriers. Today, all movements are handled centrally via the platform – from classic Euro pallets to H1 pallets.

‘Our customers can now view their accounts and track transactions at any time – without complicated access codes or waiting times. For us, this means less coordination effort, and for customers, it means greater clarity,’ says Schlarmann.

Result: transparency and safety – even with H1 pallets

Transparency is particularly valuable when it comes to expensive H1 pallets, which are indispensable in food production.

‘I'm after every H1 pallet like the devil is after souls,’ says Schlarmann with a wink. ‘With the logistics booth, we can keep track of everything at all times and prevent shrinkage.’

In everyday life, this means that bookings can be completed with just a few clicks, discrepancies are immediately visible, and inventories are clearly documented.

Outlook: Automated processes through interfaces

With the introduction of Logistikbude, delo has laid the foundation for further automating pallet management. The plan is to connect the software directly to existing systems such as TMS and WMS via interfaces. This will allow bookings to be fully automated in future, saving even more time.

‘With delo Dettmer Verpackungen, we are implementing a collaboration with a long-established industrial company that is very familiar with the practical challenges surrounding reusable load carriers. Together, we are creating transparency, reducing manual effort and securing stocks in a sustainable manner,’ says Dr Philipp Hüning, co-founder and CEO of Logistikbude.
